Murrieta Politics

  • I would question why a blog site specifically created for Murrieta positions this string in second position to the Party Politics string.

  • 7:35 - Agreement here. We need an emphasis on what is affecting our lives right here in the town in which we are living and raising our families. There is already a whole world of news, analysis, and commentary devoted to national issues. In Murrieta, this discussion blog is the only real game in town. It is the only place where we can directly and daily address matters vital to certain elements of the local government which are causing us all a great deal of distress and concern for the well being of our homes and the lives of the children, relatives and friends we care most about. Let's not bury the importance of this home town discussion in the midst of a lot of subject matter which is already covered ad nauseum in the mass media. We have a real fight for taking back the agenda of this town. Taking it back from the lunacy of political decisions made for the benefit of mass housing developers. Taking it back into the realm of common sense as applied to public planning. The quality of our lives, the wealth of the local public treasury, and our own property values are hanging in the balance. Let's not dilute or subordinate this vital subject matter, please!

  • If you would remember a U.S. Supreme Court decision earlier this year regarding a modification of the rules that cities would need to follow when declaring eminent domain on a private property owner, than you would also understand that issues in Murrieta are sometimes affected by decisions in Riverside County, Sacramento, and yes, in Washington. This blog represents a holistic approach to political awareness.

As far as the last three posts are concerned, their order of posting in no way indicates the priority that each one holds. I personally expect that this Murrieta politics post will become the most active of the three.

  • I'm interested in K. Seyarto's method of presiding at council meetings. Anyone care to comment?

  • True to his character, and as in the same way he changed from one extreme to the other on the blog, he will revert back to the same ole Kelly. It's only a matter of time. The only difference is on the blog he could be told to get off. On the bench it won't be quite that easy, unless of course the chamber continues to sit in the audience to remind him to be on his best behavior. We can only wait and see.

  • J.L. Kunkle,
I want to agree with your 9:11 post. We do not live in an isolated community, but instead we are affected in many ways by decisions of judges and politicians near and far.
Your approach to the management of topics has not stopped anyone from jumping into an active string with news when they have considered it important to do so.
In my own opinion, the approach your are taking to this forum's management is well suited to the needs of this community. I thank you. Thanks also to the various participants who keep the forum a livey and informative place for so many Murrieta readers.

  • If you haven't noticed, the Chamber string is alive and kicking.
