Proposition 73
This initiative: "The Parents' Right to Know and and Child protection Initiative") will require physicians who are to perform an abortion on a minor to notify said minor's parents at least 48 hours in advance or risk fines and civil actions.
Language in the initiative contains the phrase: "The termination with those means will, with reasonable likelihood, cause the death of the unborn child, a child conceived but not yet born" not fetus, unborn child.

I would definitely want to know if my daughter was getting an abortion! A pregnant teen is a distraut teen. A distraut teen can make a rash decision without realizing the consequences. An adult parent can help with that major decision.
I am not saying whether I am for or against abortion. I am saying that children need support and guidance from their parents.

Jenny,
I agree with you. An underage child has many things going on in their lifes. This one needs the help of a parent. Informing the parent is one thing. Getting their permission is something else.
I am with you all the way here. Children make many mistakes. Feeling comfortable to talk this over with their parents is so important and that should also be of major importance.

This proposition was about kids who are afraid to tell their parents from fear of physical abuse. It is a truism that teenage girls are not known for the stability of their abilty to make decisions, but the underlying theme of this proposition was not to protect teenage mothers as it was to get a law on the books that used the turn "unborn child" instead of unborn fetus. This distinction is important in that it will help the anti-abortionists' strengthen their position for the coming Supreme Court battle to overturn Roe vs. Wade.
