Where's Waldo?

A third RM endorsed candidate, Rip Gibbs, was unable to introduce himself at the council meeting and had Ed Faunce do it instead. I guess he was busy or something. I hope he takes these meetings a little more seriously if he gets elected.

  • Rick Gibbs takes City meetings very seriously. He has been attending City meetings (Public Safety Committee, Steering Committee and GPAC) for the last four years.

He does have a private schedule, however. On Monday, January 31st, after the secret ballots selecting Rescue Murrieta's three endorsed candidates were counted, a decision was made to announce the three candidates the following day in the Public Forum portion of the Council meeting.

Rick Gibbs did not know until after 10:00 p.m. that he was one of the three selected candidates. He informed us that he had a prior committment - out of town - for which he had no ability at that late date to change. I agreed to stand in for him as everyone thought it best to make public our announcement as soon as possible.

We take Mr. Gibbs decision to keep his prior committment rather than appear personally to announce his candidacy as a reflection of his life-long reliability. His committment to standing by his word will be a positive force for Murrietans once he is seated on the Council

We know he was very sorry that he could not attend the Council meeting, but there will be plenty of opportunities for Murrietans to meet and talk with him.

  • I appreciate Mr. Gibbs' reputation, but he is an airline pilot and I think there might be more of these unavoidable absences. This possibility needs to be taken into account.

  • Mr. Gibbs is retired from the U.S. Air Force and is not an airline pilot. It may be that he is being confused with someone else. In any event, his attendence at City committee meetings including the GPAC has been sterling.

  • Yep, my mistake. I would like to hear more about Mr. Gibbs. Has he decided who he is running against?

  • Mr. Gibbs is running for the Council seat currently filled by Jack van Haaster.

  • Mr. Seyarto... YOU are being recalled. YOU have already demonstrated that you can't get along with members of the Council and it has gotten in the way of being a representative of the people. Your personal disdain for Warnie does not need to be reinforced at every opportunity.

  • Mr. Seyarto get Jack to resign and the gravity of the problem you face will change. Jack is an anchor let him go!

  • Forgive me, but that "everyones doing it" argument does not cut much ice in the real world. By accusing Enochs of being the cause of "the council operating on less than five cylinders" to excuse your own behavior towards him is very unprofessional of you. If you want to complain about ad hominem attacks, you would do better to stop making them yourself.
